Creature of Contrast

Life is full of contrast, hot is always more scorching if you’re cold, things taste nasty after you have cleaned your teeth and holidays always seem tantalising when you are on exams. Humans have this inexorable ability to forget their mindset when they were stressed, sad or angry; basically we are creatures of contrast. I recently had exams at university, and during exams all I could consider was finishing and how good it would feel, and then once it happened, once the pressure was gone, I didn’t care. Is it a function of evolution that people are constantly forgetting what things were like and constantly probing for something better? I found that while I was having examinations I would enjoy my free time a lot more, instead of now as I just squander it away. I wish I could recreate the feeling of having some kind of pressure so I could enjoy my time more, when you have no landmark in the distance you have no motivation to enjoy your time.

Different people are all the same, same people are all the same but care about people who look different. Some people like to think they have left this system but really you cant leave, what you see is what you get. People that aspire to look different only look different to people who try and look the same. Omg i love what your wearing its so different. You become so disestablished that you establish yourself to look like something that other people dont want you to look like.

Homogeneous guys driving their Holden’s through the streets racketing profanities at unsuspecting bystanders, they feel so high-quality and mannish. They take from others to contribute to their own because they go home and get beaten by their fathers. They change once they have turned the key, once they have had some tipple, the ultra bespoke yet off-the-rack shell provides a haven for this universal species. oi ya faggot.

Airports

I love airports; they are places of constant commotion and busy people pretending to look busy, why is it that people are so infatuated with such utilitarian buildings? People love to feel important and airports are one such task that all people have to go through, no matter how important they are. This means that airport natives will do anything they can to seem better than the nameless people around them; things like talking on the phone, walking briskly or brashly tapping laptop keys. The thought that everyone knows you’re about to fly to some exotic destination is often more exciting than the actual undertaking, especially if you are walking down the terminal with a wheeled suitcase and a resolute facial expression…

Crispy fish

Today as i was feeding my fish i noticed a rather unpleasant smell pending from the fish tank. It did not take me long to discover the vulnerable sight of a crispy fish laying on the tiles. My mind began to race, i thought back to the time when i was watching the tank and noticed i could not see one of my fish, was it at that moment that it was struggling disparately on the ground gasping for water? There is something intrinsically depressing about that image of a drowning fish and i wonder whether its just me or if everyone else feels this way…

Being gay from a straight point of view

Imagine the way all awkward adolescents feel around the opposite sex, in the way that they don’t really know what to say or how to act around each other. Then imagine being in situations where you are expected to act a certain way and do certain activities that you don’t feel comfortable doing. Being gay is like for a straight male the equivalent of going to an all girls school and expected to fit in and make friends. Forced to internalize all sexual feelings of females for fear of social exile and wondering why you never make friends or have the same connection to other people, you are not allowed to be attracted to anyone.
